He graduated from Menominee High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

He is very active in the community as co-founder of the Healthy Youth Coalition of Marinette and Menominee Counties; he sits on the board of: Marinette County Teen Court, UW Marinette Foundation. At Holy Family Parish he serves as: Lector, pre-marriage planning “Focus” facilitator, trustee and is responsible for several hours each week at God the Father Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

He is a past winner of the WINGS Award (Worthy Individual Noted for Generous Service); which is an award that recognizes the exceptional individual community service efforts of a bank employee.

Carlson lives in Marinette with his wife Roxanne and family.

In his free time he remains very active in church activities and attends Mass whenever possible. He and his family love to exercise through bike riding, jogging, lifting weights, taking their Welsh corgi for a walk, skiing, and spending time at their cabin in the Twin Bridge Area.  He also likes thrill activities including bungee jumping and sky diving. He is passionate about helping local youth succeed and participates in several youth centered civic organizations in his spare time.
