SNB&T Furniture Gets Second Life |
|
|
|
Last week, The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNB&T)
donated office furniture to Goodwill Industries. The
furnishings were removed during the bank’s expansion and
renovation project. |
 |
|
|
|
|
“The items we donated have several good years left in them,”
said Dan Peterson, SNB&T Executive Vice President. “Rather
than keep those items in storage, we decided to donate them
to Goodwill who could put them to use.” |
|
|
|
|
“We’ll be using this
furniture in a
number of ways,”
said Goodwill
Executive Director
David Palmer. “Some
of it will furnish
employee offices in
our new store on
Roosevelt Road, some
will be used for new
Human Resources
department offices
at our Main Street
location, and others
will be sent to
Sault Ste. Marie,
Mich. to be used in
our new workforce
development store.” |
|
|
|
Palmer also noted
that what furniture
is not used will be
sold within their
stores or sent to
salvage. “We have
the infrastructure
to recycle and
dispose of these
items so that none
of it will go into
landfills, and
that’s really
important to us.” |
|
|
|
In addition, SNB&T
recently donated
over 100 used
computers to
Goodwill who sent
them off to either
be reprogrammed or
disassembled and
disposed of
properly. |
|
|
|
The emphasis on
community service is
a long-standing
tradition at SNB&T.
As stated in the
bank’s values, they
are committed to
community leadership
through charitable
contributions and
staff volunteerism.
