SNB&T Pledges 6,250 Hours of
Community Service |

The dictionary defines philanthropy as an altruistic act of donating money, goods, or time to support a charitable cause or any activity intended to improve the quality of life. |
|
|
|
For the staff at The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNB&T), philanthropy is defined through the annual pledges they make to serve organizations throughout the community. |
|
|
|
For the seventh year in a row, the 91 employees at SNB&T have collectively pledged their time toward improving the quality of life in our communities with a new record number of hours. |
|
|
|
This year, the annual pledge tops all other years with over 6,250 hours of community service. That is equivalent to three, full time workers for one year. These hours are distributed among 115 groups and organizations, in Marinette, Menominee, Stephenson, Peshtigo, Coleman, Crivitz, Lena and Oconto. |

“Each year the commitment of the staff at SNB&T continues to grow,” noted Kathleen Bergquist, human resources director. “This is impressive dedication that supports and strengthens the communities where we live and work.” |

|
Throughout the years, the bank has encouraged its employees to be active within their communities, serving on boards of directors, volunteering in school and church activities and variety of non-profit organizations. |
|
|
|
The bank’s long-standing emphasis and dedication to community service began with the Staudenmaier family through their tradition of local volunteerism. In 2000, this commitment was extended to the entire bank with a challenge to pledge at least 2000 hours of community service. |
|

|
“Our employees met the challenge and surpassed that goal,” said Mary Staudenmaier, chairman of the board. “And they have managed to increase their pledges every year since.” |
|
|
|
A 2004 study done by the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) shows the amount of volunteer time contributed by Wisconsin community banks. Their research found that banks in the $150–$500 million asset category donated an average of 1,842 volunteer hours. According to that survey, SNB&T at $240 million in assets, is far above its peers. |
