Peterson Earns Award for Notable Service

Dan Peterson recently received the 2007 Mary L. Staudenmaier WINGS (Worthy Individual Noted for Generous Service) Award. Named in honor of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNB&T) chairman of the board, the award celebrates an employee’s outstanding commitment to community service.

“This award is named in honor of our leading community servant – Mary Staudenmaier,” added Reinke.  “Her record of community involvement is probably unparalleled in our area.”

Peterson, Executive Vice President & Chief Lending Officer, has served on the Board of Directors of many local non-profit organizations and pledged a total of 310 hours of community service for 2007. He is currently the Chairman for Board of Trustees of St. Thomas Aquinas Academy, a board member for both the Marinette County Industrial Development Corp and the M & M Great Lakes Sport Fishermen Club.  He also volunteers time for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Peshtigo.

“Picking a winner each year is difficult because of the growing pool of talented volunteers that we have on our staff,” said John Reinke, bank president. “Dan stood out due to the fact that he has made community service a big part of his life over the years.”

In addition, he is an active participant of the bank’s Personal Economics Program. He makes presentations in local classrooms throughout the year including Teach Children to Save Day in April and Get Smart about Credit Day in October.

“Dan’s community leadership is evidence of how he contributes to the bank’s Vision of enhancing the quality of life in our communities,” Reinke noted. “We truly appreciate his commitment to making a better tomorrow.”

To recognize his accomplishment, Peterson received the WINGS plaque and his name and photograph will be added to the WINGS display in the Marinette location.  In addition, the bank will make a $500 contribution in his name to the organization of his choice.

Among his accolades, Peterson is a past recipient of the bank’s Award of Excellence, given semi-annually to employees who demonstrate superior job knowledge, professionalism, motivation, productivity and customer service.

SNB&T encourages bank employees to be active in the community, serving on boards of directors, volunteering in schools and a variety of non-profit organizations. The WINGS award was created to celebrate this generosity of spirit and to recognize an employee’s contributions to individual volunteer efforts. Previous WINGS recipients are Dave Meyer, Julie Beyer, Michael Dieck, Julie Nygren, Jeff Wilinski, Perry Carlson and Charlie Cappaert.

Peterson, who joined the bank in 1988, became head of the consumer loan department and a member of the bank’s Senior Management team in 2003. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2004 and to his current position in 2006. He is responsible for administration of the entire loan department with a portfolio of $175 million and is a member of SNB&T’s Director’s Loan Committee.

A DePere, Wisc. native, Peterson graduated from Abbot Pennings High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Norbert College in 1986.  Peterson has completed the Wisconsin Bankers Association General Banking School, Commercial Lending School, Leadership Program and The Graduate School of Banking.  He and his wife Barbara live in Peshtigo and have two sons.
