SNB&T Celebrates Area Scholars

 

The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT) recently awarded scholarships totaling over $11,000 to local high school, college and university students. These scholarships recognize the achievements of exceptional area students.

 
The Louis W. Staudenmaier Scholarship is named in honor of the bank’s former president who served from 1952 through 1980. High school graduates who received this award are:
 
  • Cloe Baribeau of Menominee High School. Her activities include Student Council, Healthy Youth Coalition, Tri-Y, National Honor Society and Golf. She is undecided on where she wants to attend college, but will be studying health sciences.
  • Margaret Baker of Peshtigo High School. Her activities include National Honor Society, Hi-Q, Student Council, Newspaper, Drama, and Forensics. She plans to attend Western Michigan University and major in journalism.
  • Cody Murphy of Marinette High School. His activities include Student Senate, High Honor Roll, Hi-Q, Football, and Baseball. He plans to attend UW Stevens Point and major in Wildlife Ecology.
  • Lydia VanSchyndel of Wausaukee High School. Her activities include National Honor Society, High Honor Roll, Student Council, and Pep Band. She plans to attend St. Norbert College and study Spanish and Education.
  • Amber Kaufman of Crivitz High School. Her activities include National Honor Society, Cheerleading, Band, Yearbook, and Science Club. She plans to attend Northern Michigan University and major in Music Education.
  • Cody Wehner of Stephenson High School. His activities include 4-H, FFA, and Hi-Q. He plans to attend South Dakota State University and major in Environmental Engineering.
  • Ryan Tandias of St. Thomas Aquinas Academy. His activities include National Honor Society, High Honor Roll, Student Council, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He plans to attend UW Madison and major in Business and Finance.
  • Sara Draheim of Oconto High School. Her activities include 4-H, SADD, Track, Math Club, Science Club, and Pep Band. She plans to attend UW Lacrosse and major in Psychology.
 
The Mary L. Staudenmaier Scholarship was created by, and named after, the bank’s current Chairman, that recipient is:
 
  • Elisha Kessel of Marinette High School. Her activities include CNA Certification, Cross Country, and Basketball. She plans to attend UW Marinette and major in Nursing.
 

The scholarship recipients from University of Wisconsin-Marinette are:

 
  • Erica Kaufman of Marinette High School. She will be studying Psychology.
  • Heather Blum of Coleman, a current UW-Marinette student studying Biology.
  • Andrew Beyer of Menominee, a current UW-Marinette student studying Business.
  • Marissa Maguire of Marinette, a current UW-Marinette student studying Medicine.
 

SNBT also funds two scholarships at NWTC, those recipients are:

 
  • Meaghan Kelley of Marinette, a current NWTC student studying nursing.
  • Dawn Van Laanen of Peshtigo, a current NWTC student studying nursing.
 
The scholarship program is one of several bank activities that support youth and education. Other recent educational activities include: sponsoring “Newspapers in Education”; hosting bank tours for students; making classroom presentations such as “Teach Children to Save Day” and “Get Smart About Credit Day”; as well as sponsoring and participating in “Life Skills Expo” and “Mini Business World”.
