Bauman Joins SNBT, Trust Department Growth Continues

Jeff Bauman has joined The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT) as Chief Investment Officer located in the Marinette office at 1820 Hall Avenue. He is responsible for investment analysis, manager research, portfolio management, and account administration.
“Jeff was a unanimous choice by the search committee,” said Greg Salmen, Senior Vice President & Trust Manager. “He brings to this position tremendous energy, a strong history in the financial services industry, and extensive investment management experience including Senior Investment Officer for the $3 billion trust and wealth management division of Alerus Financial, a national corporation.”

A Minnesota native, Bauman has fifteen years of broad cross-functional experience in equity and fixed income markets. Most recently, he spent five years as the Chief Investment Officer for Catholic Financial Life, a Wisconsin-based life insurance organization. In addition to directing trades and managing the $800 million internal portfolio, his role also included oversight of third-party investment managers.

At Alerus Financial, Bauman was responsible for separately-managed accounts, endowments, and pension investments. Additionally, he was the lead portfolio manager of two fixed-income funds and co-manager of two equity funds.

“Given the dramatic changes in market conditions and the globalized economy, it is critical that our investment team continues to grow in depth and strength,” Salmen said. “Jeff is a proven thought leader and proactive analyst, and he complements our existing team extremely well.”

With the addition of Bauman to the Investment Management and Trust Services team, SNBT continues to grow and provide both depth of knowledge and extensive experience to clients seeking investment solutions. “By adding qualified professionals, such as Jeff to our team, SNBT continues to be unmatched in our region with the area’s most comprehensive team of investment advisors,” said Salmen.

Currently, five members of the SNBT Trust Department have joined the elite group of just 3,800 Certified Trust and Financial Advisors (CTFAs) nationwide. Individuals who claim this designation voluntarily submit to a rigorous certification process that includes demanding education, examination, experience, and ethical requirements.

“The ongoing growth and expansion of our Trust & Investment team is solely for our clients’ benefit. We use our comprehensive knowledge of investment management, personal finance, estate planning, tax law, and fiduciary activities to offer world-class investment solutions in our hometown setting,” continued Salmen.

Bauman earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Dakota.  His recent affiliations include: graduate of the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Program, former member of the Board Directors for the Investment Section of the National Fraternal Congress of America, and former Treasurer of the Catholic Equity Mutual Fund. His community service includes volunteering as coach for several youth recreational programs, in addition, he also participates in various charity events. He and his wife Vicki, and their three children are in the process of relocating to the area from Milwaukee.
