Staudenmaier Appointed Chairman

Of Board Of Bar Examiners

Mary L. Staudenmaier, Chairman of the Board at The Stephenson National Bank & Trust, Marinette, was elected chairman of the Wisconsin State Board of Bar Examiners effective January 1, 2002.  Members of the Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) are appointed by the Wisconsin State Supreme Court and serve a maximum of two three-year terms.  She has been a member of the BBE since 1997.  Her second term expires in December of this year.

Staudenmaier earned her law degree from Marquette University in 1971 and her bachelor’s degree from Mount Mary College in 1960.  She started the Trust Department at The Stephenson National Bank & Trust in Marinette in 1973 and was president of the bank from 1979 - 2000.  Last year, Staudenmaier was elected the bank’s Chairman of the Board when John K. Reinke was elected President to succeed her.

She is an active member of the community, serving as treasurer for the Marinette Medical Care Foundation, M&M Area Community Foundation past president and founding board member, treasurer of the Twin Counties’ Free Clinic and co-chair of the Riverside Charity Classic.  In addition, Staudenmaier volunteers time to River City Art Project and Holy Spirit Church.  She is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Mount Mary College.

The BBE is responsible for managing admission to the practice of law in the state, for monitoring Wisconsin-licensed attorneys’ compliance with continuing legal education requirements, and for approving credit for continuing legal education courses.  The Board also creates, administers and grades the Wisconsin bar examination and evaluates the experience and competence of experienced lawyers.

The BBE is comprised of lawyers, judges, law school faculty and members of the public.
