SNBT Recognized by Beta Sigma with Friend of Education Award
February 7, 2022Beta Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) International Society voted unanimously to recognize The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT) as a business deserving recognition through the DKG Chapter Friend of Education Award. This award recognizes persons, groups, or businesses who have given outstanding service to education.
“Your financial literacy program, educational supplements, curriculum materials, annual scholarships, and all of your educational involvement are exemplary,” said Debbie Pajula, Beta Sigma Co-President. “You are making a positive impact on education, and your work is appreciated. We thank you for your excellent service and contributions to students, parents, teachers, and schools. Marinette and the surrounding areas are fortunate to have a business like you supporting education.”
Beta Sigma member, Judy Reid, Menominee, Mich. made the nomination to the Delta Kappa Gamma Michigan State Organization. The award recognizes the impact SNBT makes by delivering online and in-person financial presentations to students throughout Marinette, Oconto, and Menominee County.
During 2021, over 30 employees visited more than 50 classrooms, elementary through high school, giving financial presentations, reading books about money and providing hands-on lessons to students of all ages. Due to the pandemic, they created virtual lessons, online presentations, and videos of books being read aloud. These virtual lessons and discussion ideas are provided on the SNBT website for students, teachers, and parents to begin the conversation about good money habits. Visit www.snbt.com/Financial-Literacy for more details.
“The world seems to be moving much more quickly these days, which is why it’s more important than ever to give young people a solid foundation for financial literacy,” said Lisa Hower, Financial Literacy Coordinator at SNBT. “Not only does learning about money management help young students form good money habits, but it also prepares them for the more complex lessons that can have a massive impact on their adult lives.”
SNBT has been recognized for over two decades by the Wisconsin Banker's Association for outstanding work in financial education. Other SNBT financial education initiatives include: making presentations to high schoolers for Get Smart About Credit Day, supporting National Walk to School Day, visiting elementary and middle schoolers for Teach Children to Save Day, hosting seminars, hosting bank tours, sponsoring Newspaper in Education, and funding more than $14,000 annually in local scholarships.
